Self-taught guitarist. Grew up in Montpellier, France.
Lived in England (Brighton, London...) and played in rock and pop bands.
Studied music at the Paul Valéry University, Montpellier and graduated in 1994.
Got a scholarship and studied music (classical and jazz) at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA. Graduated in 1997.
Studied classical guitar with Jim McGuire and Jeffrey Van.
I had the chance to study with great professors such as Michael Cherling (contemporary music) and attend master classes with Billy Carothers, Bill Stewart, Herbie Hancock,
Sonny Rollins among others...
I also had the chance to met and play with great jazz musicians such as sax player Chris Thomson, bass player Gary Raynor, guitar players Pavel Jany, David Roos, Dean Magraw, drummer Phil Hey, singer Cynthia Johnson...
I played with rock and gospel groups too.
Moved to France in 1998 and started to work as a musician and music teacher.

- Quartet BUDDY NAM-NAM with 5 strings cello player and singer Marc Gilet. Rhythm'n'Blues and jazz music (Enghein Jazz Festival, Minneapolis, New-Orleans...)
- Trio Pôl & Cie Jazz up Brassens ! (cd realeased in 2004).
- Compagnie Les Enjoliveurs (cds Olé Maestro and Ça va Jazzer)
- Latin-Jazz combo CHILI CANDY
- Jazz quartet LES FOUS REVEURS (cd Chansons jazz en roue libre ! released in 2013)
Founder of the JAZZ TELEGRAM quartet with Philippe Moreno, tenor sax, Lionel Martinez, drums and Claude Boussard / Michel Altier, double-bass.

Founder of the TELE COULEUR quartet with legendary guitarist Pascal Corriu, Lionel Martinez on drums and Claude Boussard on bass. (Henri Houix on guitar, banjo and vocal).
This quartet features 2 guitarists, great synergy, a powerful yet poetic and playful sound mixing jazz and blues.
EKLECTIK DUO with classical guitarist Stéphane Bodez, music ranging from John Dowland,
J.S. Bach, Claude Debussy, to G. Gershwin, Serge Gainsbourg... blending classical
with electric guitar.
Live performance with artist Sylvaine Jenny. Live, improvised music and paintings/drawings.
Henri Houix also plays with various other muscians and bands and his trio plays for a large kids choir in Nîmes (FR) each year.
